Thirty-two (32) week English programs are offered for Levels I - VII (designed for average 6th-12th graders). Our courses provide instruction in vocabulary, grammar, writing, and literature. You can review information for each level below.

(NOTE: Outlines and reading lists for 2021-2022 have been posted below! Only minor changes will be made for the upcoming school year, but we encourage you to review the updated outlines and reading lists provided.

Each of our English courses is $330 and runs for 32 weeks.

Please enroll your student based on their skill set in writing. Do not enroll based on age or grade level alone. We strongly encourage you to read the English program placement information provided HERE

 

 

English Program

level I // 6th grade

the beginning middle school student

  • 2.5-3.5 hours per week

  • 80 vocab words covered

  • basic, thorough grammar

  • writing lessons focused on summary & composition skills

  • literature lessons focused on basic elements of literature, summaries, and characters

  • 450-600 word research project

level ii // 7th grade

the progressing middle school student

  • 3.5-4.5 hours per week

  • 100 vocab words covered

  • basic, thorough grammar

  • writing lessons focused on the five-paragraph essay

  • literature lessons focused on summaries, characters, theme, and connections

  • 600-800 word research project

level iii // 8th grade

the experienced middle school student

  • 3.5-4.5 hours per week

  • 120 vocab words covered

  • thorough grammar lessons

  • writing lessons focused on essays of 7-10 paragraphs

  • literature lessons focused on stronger reading comprehension and essay-style responses

  • 800-1,000 word research project

level IV // 9th grade

the high school student with basic essay experience

  • 4.5-5.5  hours per week

  • 120 vocab words covered

  • thorough grammar lessons

  • writing lessons focused on review and practice of all major essay forms

  • literature lessons focused on stronger reading comprehension and essay-style responses

  • 1,000-1,400 word research project

level V // 10th grade

the skilled high school writer

  • 5-6 hours per week

  • 140 vocab words covered

  • thorough, advanced grammar

  • writing lessons focused on proper source use, expository thesis development and essay writing

  • literature lessons focused on more advanced analysis and expository-style responses

  • 1,200-1,600 word research project

level VI // 11th grade

the advanced high school writer

  • 5.5-6.5 hours per week

  • 140 vocab words covered

  • thorough, advanced grammar lessons

  • writing lessons focused on the persuasive thesis and essay

  • literature lessons focused on advanced analysis and persuasive responses

  • 1,500-2,000 word exploratory research project

level VII // 12th grade

the college-preparatory high school student

  • 6-7  hours per week

  • 160 vocab words covered

  • advanced grammar lessons

  • writing lessons focused on rhetoric-style essays requiring strong critical thinking skills

  • literature lessons focused on advanced analysis and responses

  • 1,500-2,000 exploratory research paper
