The Lantern English Co.
Stephanie Carter
Grammar Instructor
at The Lantern English Co.
Born and raised in a small town in Northeast Pennsylvania, I continued to live and raise my own family only a half mile from the home that I grew up in. I attended both Christian and public school and attended the local community college.
Our own kids began attending the local public school, but only about six years in, I felt a nudge to homeschool our children. Beginning our journey with three kids in school and a baby, twenty-three years later I have graduated six kids with one still in school. I have always tried to instill in my own kids a love for learning. . . reading, writing, grammar, and even math, science, and history, with many electives and extra curriculars.
Having recently become a widow after 38 years, my days look very different than they used to. I love the quietness of the morning, spending time in prayer, reading God’s Word, and journaling. My desire is to let Christ shine through me in ALL that I do, whether it be teaching my own daughter, teaching for The Lantern English, or pouring into others.
I enjoy spending time with my grown kids, and four grandkids, and traveling to their various homes. So, you may on occasion find me grading from either of my daughters’ homes, one in Western Pennsylvania and one in Western Ohio. I am involved in our local church, leading the baby nursery and a member of our worship team. I have also recently picked back up my crochet hooks and enjoy working on blankets for my grandkids.
I am learning to lean on God to direct my days, weeks, and months ahead, and I want to be used where He wants me. He is stretching me way more than I could have imagined, and my hope is that I can be used in the lives of my students.
