PLACEMENT INFORMATION

History program

Although we do give grade level suggestions for the History program, please do not enroll your student based on age or grade level alone.

Primarily, please consider your student's prior writing experience and current skill set. 

Option A: History Detective (little writing experience) - This is suitable for students who need some writing practice but aren't ready to tackle bigger projects. 

If your student has no grammar or sentence experience and you are not working on these concepts separately at home, we strongly recommend completing Grammar I - IV and Sentence Stretchers (this can be completed while enrolled in the History program).​​

Option B: History Explorer (some writing experience with good foundation) - This is suitable for students who need to practice writing and organizing content.

Students should be capable of writing paragraphs independently. Again, if your student has little to no grammar experience, we strongly recommend completing Growing Grammar I - IV  (this can be completed while enrolled in the History program).

Option C: History Storyteller (writing experience with good understanding of grammar and essays of 5 paragraphs) - This option suits parents who want to cover thorough writing practice through the study of history. Students should be capable of writing essays of 5 paragraphs, with basic exposure to the ideas of descriptive, narrative, expository, and opinion writing. This option is a Lantern English exclusive!
