Emily Hostetter

Creative Writing Lead

at The Lantern English Co.

From the time I was a little girl, you could find me in one of two places—riding my horse or in a corner somewhere, surrounded by a pile of books. And it was my love for books that sparked a passion for writing.

I was homeschooled 7th-12th grade in the mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania, where my mom recognized my love for the written word and enrolled me in a program very similar to The Lantern English Co. During those years, my writing coaches not only helped me develop my writing skills, but they lit a fire in me that cannot be extinguished.

Once out of college, I took jobs in various positions where I was taught to write compelling website and social media content for those businesses. Ever since that time, I’ve been working hard to continue my writing education by taking countless creative writing courses with some bestselling authors, enrolling in the creative writing course through Wesleyan University, and becoming a certified proofreader. God still had bigger plans for me, though, and in 2020, I launched my own writing and proofreading business. In addition to teaching and proofreading/editing, I also write in my spare time and have a goal of finishing my novel in the near future.

Currently, I’m living on a little farm in the mountains of Southwestern Pennsylvania with my husband, our cats and dogs, a couple of horses, and many rabbits, chickens, and ducks. My husband and I enjoy time spent on the farm and helping in our church’s children’s ministry, and in 2024, we became licensed foster parents, something we’ve felt God calling us to for many years. My favorite things these days include coffee, pajamas, and a good book. Although free time is scarce these days, when I manage to find some time for hobbies, you can find me reading or writing, working with our animals, or woodworking.
