English & Writing Instructor
at the Lantern English Co.
I developed a love for reading at a young age. This interest quickly blossomed into an enthusiasm for writing. I was homeschooled from kindergarten through twelfth grade, and my parents encouraged me to pursue my passion for writing. In fact, I was one of the first students of Lantern English (then So Verbose). The courses provided me with a great foundation to pursue my writing interests in high school and beyond. While most youth who write for fun typically fall into fictional writing, my "fun" writing in high school was focused on writing speeches for competitions.
I earned a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Pensacola Christian College in May 2018. This degree furthered my communication skills as I worked to write advertising plans, market entry proposals, research papers, memos, and ad copy. After graduating college, I worked for a paratransit bus manufacturer as a marketing coordinator for one year while I completed my master’s degree in extension education through University of Arkansas’ online program. Currently, I am employed as a 4-H youth development educator for Ontario County, New York in addition to teaching writing at Lantern English.
I am excited to help my students cultivate their writing potential. Writing is a very useful skill and can be a lot of fun as well! I don’t want to be merely a teacher, but rather a mentor helping my students on their quest to achieve writing success.
Although my two jobs keep me quite busy, when I get free time I enjoy riding my Appaloosa mare, hiking in my local area, and going on adventures with my husband, Zach.
