Writing Instructor

at The Lantern English Co.

I grew up in a family of 10 kids in a quiet, rural town in Wisconsin. We were all homeschooled K-12. In my family, I was known as one of the bookworms, and I’ve always had a knack for writing. When it came to the tedious decision of what to study in college, artsy and indecisive me eventually settled on a Bachelor’s degree in English. More specifically, I majored in professional writing and publishing and minored in creative writing. I was a college grammar and writing tutor and won awards for both my academic and creative writing. In addition to my English courses, I really loved learning Spanish. I’m half Puerto Rican, and it’s a goal of mine to become fluent in Spanish someday.

As far as other things I enjoy, I love hiking, reading, traveling, spending time with my “army” of siblings, and writing poetry and short stories. The more I’ve grown as a writer, I’ve found that what stirs me most is the beauty that God paints, writes, sings, etches, and speaks into this world. I love soaking up both the evident and the unexpected ways He places it in everyday life. He is the wise Artist where all beauty comes from. The more I draw near to Him, the more I’m compelled to write.
