at The Lantern English Co.
I was born in Virginia, yet spent 13 years of my childhood growing up in Denver, Colorado. While I do miss the beautiful Rockies, I am grateful to be back in Virginia, close to extended family. I reside in Chesterfield, Virginia with my husband and three children, ages 6,4, and 1. I have a Bachelors degree in Psychology and a Masters in Education. I taught English to middle school students with a variety of disabilities for several years before I began tutoring homeschool students.
My enjoyment and love for reading and writing sparked in late elementary school. I had a wonderful 6th grade teacher who encouraged and took pride in my joy for creative writing. As I went on through middle and high school, I continued to have phenomenal English teachers who refined my writing skills and grew my passion. I desire for others to be able to share in that same joy as I guide them to understand and appreciate literature and writing.
I currently homeschool my own children, tutor, and serve in the children’s ministry at my church. In our free time, my family enjoys being outside, exploring walking trails and working in the yard. I also enjoy reading, crafting, decorating, and drinking coffee.
